What to Expect During Your Kitchen Installation: A Step-by-Step Timeline

At B-Spoke Kitchens, we know that a new kitchen is more than just cabinetry and countertops - it’s a complete transformation of one of the most important spaces in your home. While the result is always worth it, many clients wonder what actually happens between placing an order and cooking their first meal in their dream kitchen.

This guide walks you through what to expect during your kitchen installation - from initial prep to final handover and how our team works to make the process as seamless and stress-free as possible.

Step 1: Final Checks & Pre-Installation Preparation

What happens: Before installation begins, our design and project management team will run final checks to ensure everything is aligned from cabinetry measurements and materials to trades scheduling and access requirements.

What to plan for:

  • Clear access to the kitchen area.

  • Removal of any personal belongings from cupboards or surrounding rooms.

  • Temporary setup for cooking/eating if needed.

Our team will confirm your delivery date and begin coordinating with electricians, plumbers, and other specialists as needed.

Step 2: Delivery of Your B-Spoke Kitchen

What happens: Your new kitchen - fully made in our Cumbernauld factory using rigid 18mm cabinetry and industry-leading hardware - is delivered to site, ready for installation. Unlike flat-pack alternatives, our units arrive fully assembled to ensure quicker fitting and a higher-quality finish.

What to plan for:

  • Space for the kitchen units to be delivered and stored safely.

  • Short-term disruption as the area is prepped for installation.

Step 3: Rip Out & Preparation Works

What happens: Our team begins by removing your existing kitchen and preparing the space for your new layout. This may involve rewiring, plumbing, plastering, or even structural changes (e.g. moving walls or replacing doors/windows).

What to plan for:

  • Noise and dust - our installers keep disruption to a minimum, but it’s part of the process.

  • Potential downtime of utilities like water or electricity for short periods.

  • Regular updates from our project manager to keep you informed.

Step 4: Kitchen Installation

What happens: Now the exciting part begins. Your kitchen is installed by our expert fitters - the same team who know our product inside and out. This includes:

Kitchen installation underway in a Glasgow home by B-Spoke Kitchens
  • Cabinet and unit installation

  • Worktops fitted (templating if using stone or quartz)

  • Plumbing for sinks and appliances

  • Electrical fittings and lighting

  • Splashbacks, trims, and finishing touches

What to plan for:

  • A typical installation takes 1–3 weeks depending on complexity.

  • Additional time may be needed for stone worktops if templating is required after base units are installed.

Step 5: Final Checks & Sign-Off

What happens: Once your kitchen is fully installed, our team completes a thorough quality inspection. We test all fittings, appliances, and finishes to ensure everything meets our high standards and your expectations.

What to plan for:

  • A walk-through with our team to answer any questions and hand over care instructions.

  • Time to admire your brand new kitchen!
